Northern Stage – Loop/Captioning Feedback
Several of the SHHH group attended a subtitled performance of the Lovely Bones in Autumn 2018. Unfortunately this didn’t work well for some of our members as the position of the seats was directly under the captioning screen, meaning it was uncomfortable to read and impossible to read and watch the stage at the same time.
This feedback was provided to Northern Stage and they are now identifying on their website which seats are accessible when attending a captioned performance. Please make sure you checkout online by clicking on the access tab for your chosen performance.
Similarly, after attending a performance of the Last Ship also in 2018, poor performance of the infra red listening system was reported. We have been informed that this is an old system and is due to be replaced at which point service users will be consulted. In the meantime however, Northern Stage have identified that the infra red signal is better from Row E backwards so if you do intend to use this equipment please ensure you book an appropriate seat. Again details of this are available through the access tab on their website.
Northern Stage have also improved their loop system at ticket office which hopefully will improve the overall theatre experience!
