A few years ago some D/deaf men asked if we could help them to have a support and information sharing group. A small, friendly meeting and a chance to ‘chat’ about things that mattered to them.
This was very successful and now, every month, we arrange for someone to come and do a presentation or just have a chat and the men get a chance to ask questions that they maybe wouldn’t share comfortably with others. Reason is to increase Deaf Men’s’ knowledge and get a better understanding and access to information in their own language. Topics covered in the past: Prostate Gland Cancer, Health MOT, Smoking, Healthy Eating and Stroke. The men help identify topics for the meetings. Sometimes we arrange for a trip out like a tour around St James’s Park or the Discovery Museum.
This meeting is for BSL users.
If you want to come to the group please contact us first and we can explain what happens and how to get there.
