Neurographic Art Exercise
Please note - it is improtant to focus just on this exercise while you are doing it, try not to think about anyhting else apart from working through it
- Close your eyes and think about what you are feeling inside. Place your pencil or marker at a point of interest at the edge of the paper. Loosen your arms and grip, draw lines, a doodle, or random squiggles that interlink and cross for 30 seconds (set timer).
- Look at the intersection of lines (where they cross), smooth them by rounding off corners. Go back over your lines to connect any broken or jagged areas. If you like the look just the way it is, that is fine as well. Thicken up the lines to allow your intuitive lines emerge off the paper.
- Transform additional intersections by continuing to round off the corners where any lines and shapes meet. A softer, curvier look to the lines helps in the calming effect the image can have on your mind as you experience deeper flow and even. A meditative state.
When you are finished and happy with it look and appreciate what you have created. Suggested thoughts:
- How did you feel as you drew it?
- Were you conscious of your breathing?
- Did you feel a sense of calm as you created this artwork?
- How do you feel now?
